Summer Lovin Layout And Step By Step Tutorial

Hello friends! Today I am sharing a summer layout on the Just Nick Digital Cut Files blog using the pineapple shapes and lemon wedges from the Summer Fun cut files set and the title "Lovin Summer" from the Summer Lovin cut files set.

I was inspired by this lovely quilt I saw online recently and thought the pineapple could easily be replicated on patterned paper by using a square paper punch.

I began searching for yellow and green patterned papers in my stash.  I also found a paper with pineapple designs.  For this layout it was all Bella Blvd. papers from various collections that I had in my stash.  I went ahead and punched out several squares and cut them diagonally with a pair of scissors.

I cut and adhered the pineapple paper strips to the top and bottom of the layout.

Next I cut out my digital cut files, printed out my journaling, printed my photo, fussy cut the sun and chose my flair buttons.

I inked with some Ranger Squeezed Lemonade Distress Ink and and also some Ranger Shabby Shutters Distress Ink on the white card stock where the pineapple is going to be placed.

After the white card stock was inked and dry, I  began adding the paper triangles.

Next I punched holes with my paper piercer about 1/4 inches apart around the perimeter of the pineapple.  I chose some yellow embroidery floss, some green embroidery floss and hand stitched around the pineapple using three strands of floss and an embroidery needle.

The pineapple is now completed.  Notice that I didn't adhere the triangles down completely flat because I wanted the pineapple to appear to have texture just like a real pineapple.

I added my fussy cut sun and added the 3 pineapple shapes in a triangle around the page.

Then I added my photo and a green triangle for a photo corner and then my flair buttons and black card stock die cut title "Summer Lovin".

To complete the layout, I added an enamel dot to the letter "i" in the word "Lovin", adhered my journaling strips and the three lemon wedge die cuts.

Be sure and check out all the awesome designs in the Just Nick store and also the flair buttons in the A Flair For Buttons store.

Have a great day!

Easter Layout

Hello friends! Happy Saturday! Today and I am excited to share an Easter layout that I created of these cuties using the Hashtag Easter Flair at A Flair For Buttons.

I love spring and the soft pastel colors of these flair buttons.  I placed them in a triangle so that it would draw the eyes across the page.

I also used some papers and embellishments from the Bella Blvd. Simply Spring Collection as well as a digital cut file that I cut out with my Silhouette Cameo from Just Nick Digital Cut Files (Half Shell Background)

You can find these Hashtag Easter Flair and hundreds more in the A Flair For Buttons Shop.

Syd The New Puppy

Hello friends! Today I am on the A Flair For Buttons blog sharing this layout of my new puppy Syd.

I designed a circular text cut file with my Silhouette Cameo and cut it out on the yellow polka dot patterned paper.  I backed the design with black cardstock so the title would stand out and then stitched around the circular title with my sewing machine.  I wanted to stay with the circle theme, so I thought flair buttons would be the perfect embellishment for my layout.  I used the Got Dog Flair, the Just Hearts 2 Flair and the Chalkboard Valentine's 2 Flair sets.

To complete the design, I added some 3D puffy stickers of ladybugs and butterflies from Paper House Productions.

I used these sets of flair buttons on my layout.

100% Country

Hello friends! Happy Friday! Today I am sharing a layout over at Paper House Productions.  I love their horse papers and horse stickers and thought it was perfect for this layout of my niece and her horse Cameo.

Supply List

I added some journaling strips.

and beautiful 3D puffy stickers and 3D card stock stickers to the top and bottom of my photo.  I just love the dimension it gives the layout.  The stickers are such beautiful quality.

Stitching gives the layout a homespun feel and also some added texture.
I used some papers from the All Star Football Collection for the two patterned paper strips that I added to the right hand side of the layout.  Sometimes it's fun to add some papers to a page that are created for an intended theme but used for a completely different theme.

Finally I added some sequins that I threaded on a piece of twine to direct the eye to the photo.

I hope you are inspired to create a layout with some 3D stickers and use patterned paper in a different way than was intended.  Be sure and check out all the beautiful stickers and papers at Paper House Productions.  There are hundreds to choose from. One for every theme you can possibly think of.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

My Creative Scrapbook August Tutorial

Hello friends! Today I am sharing a step by step tutorial of a layout I created for My Creative Scrapbook with the August Main Kit.

Here we go!

Adhere a 9 1/2 inch by 9 1/2 inch piece of black card stock to the centre of the floral paper as shown above.  Machine stitch in white thread around the edge of the black card stock.  You could also add hand stitching or faux stitching with a white gel pen.

Add a 9 1/2 inch by 2 1/2 inch strip of pink gingham paper to approximately 2 inches below the top of the black card stock.

Add a 10 inch by 2 inch strip of the plaid paper to approximately 3/4 of an inch from the left edge of the black card stock.  Adhere.  Cut the bottom edge of the plaid paper as shown above.

Adhere an 8 inch by 1/2 inch strip of the small floral paper over the pink gingham and plaid paper as shown above.

Add the yellow square paper photo corners to the top right and bottom left corners of the photo.  I use a square paper punch and cut it in half diagonally to create the photo corners.

Add the white foam word "wonder" to the bottom right hand corner of the black card stock.  Add the floral flair button on top of the letter "o" of the white foam word. Adhere.

Adhere the "be happy" ephemera tag to the bottom left corner of the photo.  Next add the yellow paper behind the wood grain and small floral paper frames from the ephemera pack as shown above. Trim the yellow paper on the edges.

From the ephemera pack, add the yellow bicycle die cut above the floral frame as shown below. Adhere.

Adhere the pink doily from the ephemera pack and add the chipboard "just keep blooming" piece on top using some foam squares or dots.

Add the pink tab to the right of the pink doily and "just keep blooming" chipboard.

Adhere the flowers in a jar chipboard piece to the center of the wood paper frame.

Adhere the large flower to the right of the floral frame.

Adhere the ampersand flair button to the left of the large flower.

Bend the middle of the small butterfly die cut and adhere it to the upper left corner of the ampersand flair button.

Bend the middle of the large butterfly and adhere.  Add the large butterfly die cut to the right top corner of the yellow bicycle.

Adhere a small yellow flower die cut to the top right hand corner of the large flower die cut and adhere the small blue flower die cut just below the large flower die cut.

Using a fine line acid free black marker pen, journal the year.

Journal the name with the acid free black fine line marker pen to the pink gingham tab.

You have now completed the layout!

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial.  Thanks for stopping by and have fun with the kit!  Be sure to check out all four of the monthly kits at My Creative Scrapbook.
